The Sikh 100

The Sikh 100 profiles some of the most influential people of Sikh heritage from around the world and crosses all sectors, including business, education, profession, media, entertainment, sport, and charity. Since its inception in 2006, The Sikh Directory, with its wide influential network, has become one of the most respected and powerful community worldwide publications. The continued success of the Sikh Directory laid the foundation for The Sikh Awards, which have become the quintessential celebration of the success of the Sikh Diaspora. Now, due to its deep and unrivaled insight into the highly regarded work of Sikhs throughout the world, The Sikh Directory is proud to present The Sikh 100. As part of the evolution of the organization, The Sikh 100 profiles a host of inspirational men and women as well as MPs, Lords, Spiritual Leaders, and Knights of the realm. These individuals, whilst enjoying success in their own fields, continue to contribute significantly in raising the profile and impact of the global Sikh community.  Ravi Singh was awarded this honor in 2011.  His achievements in the Sikh community include being the first Sikh to enter a USA military academy with a turban, being elected the first Sikh Student Body President of a major University, and the first American Sikh to Captain a Collegiate NCAA Division 1 Golf Team in USA history.  He ran for public office and was noted as the first Sikh to stand for election with a physical turban on his head on the Republican or GOP ticket.  He has authored “Leadership by Turban,” A Sikh American story about leadership after the events of 9-11 with the turban intact and for being mistaken as a Muslim by many Americans during this time. Ravi Stated, “I am humbled and honored to receive an award from my community, the ability to fulfill our destinies is not the duty of Sikh Religious community, but for all humanity to serve.”
