Initially, BlackPlanet was designed as a platform where African-American professionals can network. BlackPlanet has evolved and now works just like any other social media site.

To access any of the sections, however, all BlackPlanet users are required to create their own personal page. Users can create up to 3 different pages on BlackPlanet.
