Obama Poked Fun on Trump’s Notion of Contesting for Presidency

Gabillet, A. (2016, October 12). This video of Obama mocking Trump might be the reason he decided to run for President. Retrieved from

In this article, the author speculates whether Obama’s mockery of Donald Trump during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner held at the Washington Hilton in 2011, may have inspired Trump’s decision to vie for the presidential seat. Gabillet reports that during his yearly stand-up comedy performance for the press, President Barrack Obama made Trump the punch-line of his jokes. In particular, Obama poked fun on Trump’s notion of contesting for the presidential nominations of the Republican Party. He sarcastically exclaimed that Trump would rely on his experience on the Celebrity Apprentice TV show to manage his job of being president. This article provides an invaluable insight into the role of political feuds as extrinsic motivators. Gabillets notes that even though the idea of Trump becoming the President of the United States was very unlikely at this point in time, Obama’s mockery of him might have evoked his desire for the top seat.
