In this article, May, attempts to delineate the declining levels of user engagement with Donald Trump’s tweets on Twitter. According to the author, unlike most politicians, Trump has managed to build a strong support base using his Twitter account. Part of this reason is that most American citizens considered his tweets to be fresh and authentic. Initially, Trump’s tweets were accustomed to using an agitated emotional tone, creating high engagement rates both from his supporters and detractors. However, when Donald Trump was sworn into office as the president of the United States, his tweeting habits began to change gradually. One notable aspect was that his level of online activity significantly decreased, causing his posts to generate low engagement rates. At the same time, the tone expressed by most of his tweets began to change from being ‘agitated’ voice to ‘calm and prepared.’ Consequently, the inconsistency of Trump’s social media voice makes his tweets appear inauthentic, which causes his followers to lose interest in his posts.
