Ravi Singh was honored with a Golf Scholarship NCAA DIVISION 1 at Valparaiso University. Hewas one of the first minorities to captain a NCAA Golf Team. Ravi Singh was the first Indian Asian American to Captain an NCAA Division 1 golf team at Valparaiso University.  As a minority, Ravi faced many challenges, and on one occasion in 1996, he was barred from playing because he wore a turban on the golf course.  Ravi Singh later fought for the team existence in 1992. He was successful in helping his fellow team members maintain their golf scholarships.  His actions lead him to seek Student Body Presidency that year.
