Did Donald Trump Break Protocol on what Should Be Shared with the Public?

Paletta, D. & Parker, A. (June 1, 2018). Trump breaks with decades of protocol with tweet before release of jobs report. This article explores how Trump broke a directive that it is a protocol for the executive branch to comment on information until an hour after it’s been made public. Donald Trump is a man who has many thoughts in his mind and after he was briefed on the jobs report, which is a sensitive material, he tweeted “Looking forward to seeing the employment numbers at 8:30 this morning.” Immediately, after this tweet was seen by industry players, “Within seconds of Trump’s post, the U.S. dollar strengthened and Treasury yields rose as investors anticipated the strong report they thought Trump had foreshadowed.” The tweet was read correctly as the Bureau of Labor statistics announced a total of 223,000 jobs created in may thus bringing down the unemployment rate to 3.8 percent. Furthermore, the article states that for the 16 months that President Trump has been in power, a lot of traditions have been cast aside “simply because it is at the top of his mind.”

Good Karma for those who comment...
