Donald Trump Rarely Caught the Media's Eye When He First Joined Twitter

Arguably, after joining Twitter in March 2009, Donald Trump rarely caught the attention of online users let alone the media houses. During this time, Trump’s tweets were mainly focused on self-promotion and giving educational tips. However, his tweeting behavior started to change when he started showing interest in political rhetoric in the country. This article provides a compiled list of 13 tweets sent by Trump in 2013 to illustrate the point that social media platforms are often misused by politicians to gain political mileage. The author notes that Trump was very active in criticizing President Obama’s administration at every opportunity he got on Twitter. For instance, when Obama planned to take military action against Syria, Trump heavily criticized that move terming it as an ill-advised strategy. However, when Trump became the president of the nation, he did not hide the fact that he was planning to bomb Syria. This article proves that the political leader may have lied to American people about many things just to gain political leverage.
