This article explores a tweet that was brought into question during the Presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in 2016. The tweet read, “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.” It led to Hillary Clinton mount an accusation on Trump citing that he called climate change “a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese.” What followed was that he denied the accusation, but people were quick to check and verify for themselves if it were true, on checking it out, it was proved that he did say that. What happened after the raising the accusation was that the said tweet was deleted which called for its viral share as users started to retweet it as well as being criticized and poking fun by comedians, pundits, analytics, and journalists. “The image quickly went viral as journalists, analysts, pundits, and comedians criticized and poked fun of what they perceived to be a colossal misrepresentation.”
