In this article, Kan Nishida details a report that compares the tweeting habits of Trump, Clinton, and Sanders while campaigning for the U.S. presidential elections in 2016. The goal of the author was to examine the effectiveness of the tweets posted by the three candidates on Twitter. After performing statistical analysis of the data obtained from the three users’ accounts using R software, the author found out that Trump’s posts generated the highest levels of engagement in comparison to those of his counterparts. Besides, the results revealed that Trump demonstrated high levels of online activity, in terms of his frequency of tweeting per day, than his counterparts. Consequently, he was able to interact and engage more with his followers. This article is extremely useful because it uses empirical data to assess the level of user engagement on Twitter. Although the article only focuses on the counts of retweets and favorites to measure engagement rates, it provides relevant information on how social brands can use software tools to analyze their engagement levels.
