Experts Think that Trump Was Trying to Distract the Public with His Tweets

In this article, Hess notes that Trump’s tweeting habits have proved to be a conundrum to many political pundits and scholars who try to decipher the strategy behind his numerous posts. While most of these experts usually felt that Donald Trump was trying to distract the public every time he sent an outrageous tweet or resurrected a buried debate, in most cases, they were all wrong. Hess notes that Trump’s compulsive tweeting behavior did not start recently, it goes way back to 2009. The author notes that Trump thrives on attention and recognition. This explains why he demonstrates obsessions with his TV ratings. Thus, when he realized that he could get all the attention of the world, he did not hesitate to join Twitter, where he posts anything that comes to his mind. In fact, he seems to enjoy getting recognition from journalists and media outlets all over the country. This article suggests that Trump’s tweeting behavior seems to be courting attention as opposed to distracting Americans.
