Gab CEO Blasts the Media for Posting Stories Without First Fact-checking

This article addresses the spreading rumors that Trump has opened another account on Gab after being banned from Twitter and Facebook. Main stream media reported that Trump had posted on the far-right network Gab, but it was not true. The author says that anyone who had spent some time on the social media, Gab would have known that there was an account for former president but he did not operate the account himself. Gab CEO, Andrew Torba stated that the account acted as a mirror of Trump’s Twitter account, posting all his tweets automatically on the platform and archiving them. The author stated that a month since Trump was banned from Twitter, a post on Gab surfaced and many believed it was Trump posting on the platform. The post consisted a letter from Trump’s lawyers to Jamie Raskin who was trying to get Trump to testify. The post is said to have led so many people on Gab thinking that Trump was now running the account. Gab CEO blasted the media for posting stories without first fact-checking them because he was the one who posted the post in question. What led to the conclusion that Trump had finally taken over the account are the changes done on the bio. The author says that before the post, the bio read “Reserved for the 45th President of the United States of America🇺🇸 This account is an uncensored Twitter archive and shares email statements sent by The Office of Donald J. Trump,” but when the post was made, it read “45th President of the United States of America. Uncensored posts from the @realDonaldTrump Feed.” The author says that the CEO would want huge traffic of people to his platform more than anything else thinking that Trump is active in his platform. Torba said that it’s the dopey advisers who are stopping Trump from joining Gab.
