Government officials Raise Security Concerns Over TikTok User Information

According to the report from Satter, Donald Trump has a verified Triller account. Triller is a video platform competing with TikTok. It is regarded as the American version of TikTok (a Chinese-based video platform). This move was a clear indicator of Donald Trump’s TikTok dislike. After Trumps move to create an account on Triller, the company has experienced a sudden increase of users mostly from the United States. This series of events came after Donald Trump signed an executive order to prohibit TikTok if ByteDance does not divest within the given period (90 days). While TikTok has had millions of users on the United States soil, the government officials have raised security concerns over the user information. ByteDance was in talks to see whether it can sell Australia, New Zealand and North America TikTok operations to Micrososft. On the other hand, Trump’s Trilleraccount had already shared three videos and had more than 3000 followers.
