Shapiro’s article argues that Americans should learn to ignore Trump’s Twitter messages. For a president to tweet more than six times a day while still in office, one would guess one thing: the president is seeking attention. Besides having presidential powers in real life, Donald Trump often feels obligated to dominate the social media world too. His demand for attention is often revealed by most of his tweets which seemingly communicate unimportant issues. Because of this reason, Shapiro notes that people ought to be ignoring Trump’s tweets instead of gifting him with the much-needed attention he craves for. When the media keeps on placing his tweets in the spotlight, what they are doing is helping him to remain the centre of attention. Hence, Trump wins. However, when his outrageous posts are disregarded, he might probably decide to tweet less frequently or to quit Twitter altogether. Nonetheless, the author cautions people to take Trump seriously, since he is the president after all, but not to indulge his nonsensical tweets.
