Jack Dorsey said that he does not feel pride in the action they took against Donald Trump’s account. He feels that this was the right decision but it sets a dangerous precedent. Dorsey said “Offline harm as a result of online speech is demonstrably real, and what drives our policy and enforcement above all.”
The decision drew criticism from Republicans and Donald trump supporters who said that twitter quelled his right to free speech. German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that legislators, not private companies should decide on potential curbs to free expression. Dorsey himself admits that banning Donald Trump is destructive to the purpose and ideal of the open internet.
