Twitter Disabled and then Reactivated Option to Retweet Trump Tweets

Serrieh, Joanne. "Twitter disables, reactivates retweets on US President Trump’s election fraud tweets." Al Arabiya English. Last modified December 12, 2020. https://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/world/2020/12/12/US-elections-Twitter-disables-reactivates-retweets-on-US-President-Trump-s-election-fraud-tweets.

On Saturday December 12th 2020, disabled retweeting on Donald trump tweets on election fraud. The whole idea was to stop engagement with the tweets, by limiting the number of people who see it. A retweet means that not only Donald Trump's followers see a tweet but also the followers of those who retweet. It is the easiest way to get increased engagement or to reach a wider audience. Twitter later on allowed that option, but they kept their warning message. So, users could retweet Donald trump’s tweet but it needed to have a comment. Twitter kept a screengrab for the tweets on election fraud.

On 12th December, Donald tweeted, “I WON THE ELECTION IN A LANDSLIDE, but remember, I only think in terms of legal votes, not all of the fake voters and fraud that miraculously floated in from everywhere! What a disgrace!” This was after the US Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit seeking to throw out voting results in four states. The US Supreme Court decision gave the US Electoral College permission go on and cast votes to make Joe’s victory official.

Good Karma for those who comment...
