After Biden was declared president elect mid-December, Twitter started a crackdown on election misinformation. Twitter slapped a tweet by Trump that was challenging Biden's win with a message that "Election officials have certified Joe Biden as the winner of the US presidential election." In a Twitter thread Trump claimed a Russian cyber-attack against US government saying that it is greater that in the Fake News Media. Trump said that there could have been a hit on the voting machine, which is the reason he lost. In a tweet, Trump said that “The Cyber Hack is far greater in the Fake News Media than in actuality. I have been fully briefed and everything is well under control. Russia, Russia, Russia is the priority chant when anything happens because Lamestream is, for mostly financial reasons, petrified of....” Twitter tweet briefly restricted the tweet to limit engagements but it was soon reversed. The tweet had already achieved 177,000 likes and was retweeted over 43,000 times.
