Is There Contrast Between Donald Trump’s Old Tweets and His Current Actions?

Barker, A. (2018, March 23). According to old Trump tweets, John Bolton shouldn't be US National Security Adviser. Retrieved from http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-03-23/john-bolton-appointment-flies-in-face-of-trump-tweets/9579852

This analytical article by Barker shows that there is a sharp contrast between Donald Trump’s old tweets and his current actions as the president. Long before he launched his presidential bid for the 2016 US election, Trump had tweeted in 2013 that all former officials under President Bush’s regime should desist from being involved with foreign policy issues, especially concerning Syria and Iraq. However, to the surprise of many people, the president was quick to hire John Bolton as the national advisor on security matters in late March 2018. In particular, Bolton was expected to have an active role in shaping the United States policy in Syria and Iraq, the two countries which Donald Trump previously felt that they were a waste of time and resources. Donald Trump continues to surprise many Americans by acting against his own set principles. This article is helpful in understanding whether the digital Trump on Twitter and the real-life Trump stand for the same political ideologies.
