Trump’s Conduct on Twitter Has Changed the Social Media Platform and the Presidency

Buncombe, A. (2018, January 17). How Donald Trump's use of Twitter has changed the US presidency. Retrieved from https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/the-twitter-president-how-potus-changed-social-media-and-the-presidency-a8164161.html

In this article, Buncombe describes how Donald Trump’s conduct on Twitter has changed the social media platform as well as the presidency. The media is always accused of paying much attention on Donald Trump’s posts on Twitter, and failing to accord the same measure of focus on his real-life activities as the president of the United States. However, Buncombe notes that the president’s tweets often provide invaluable insights into what he is thinking, and what he would like to communicate to his supporters. Notably, most of his tweets are usually packaged in a brash, aggressive, and sarcastic manner, and seem to follow the same pattern of style and content. For instance, since his inauguration, President Trump has tweeted about fake news more than 180 times. Indeed, Trump’s use of Twitter is undoubtedly unique and jaw-dropping, especially because he is the sitting president of the United States. One would not expect a president to spend most of his hours on social media; however, this one is different.
