World Leaders Reacts to Donald Trump’s Ban

On January 8th, Twitter suspended the United States president Donald Trump account citing inciting further violence. this was three days after Donald Trump and his supporters matched to the Capitol, but violence broke and some people were hurt. Twitter supported their action with the following message.
Twitters action has however sparked different reactions. Some people, mostly the democrats or foes of Donald Trump think that the ban was long overdue. Conversely, some world leaders are not pleased with the action. Those against twitter's action, feel that Twitter is clipping the wings of democracy, they are denying users the freedom of opinion.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said banning the president is problematic adding that the freedom of opinion is of elementary significance.
Mexican president, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said banning Donald trump is a bad sign that "private companies have the authority to censor opinions." He doesn’t like when anyone is censored or is denied the right to post a message on Twitter or Facebook.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that although the firms are entitled to moderate content on their platform, they should also be held accountable for the consistent, transparent, and effective enforcement of their terms and conditions. The Russian opposition figure, Alexey Navalny in a tweet said the decision is an unacceptable act of censorship.
Mark Warner, a US democratic senator in support of twitters action said it was an overdue step. Hillary Clinton who lost the elections against Donald Trump in 2013 also shared her sentiment. She shared an old tweet where she asked Donald trump to delete his account.
