Diigo has developed features to help users collect, organize, save, and store information online. These features or tools are available at just a click of a button when you install Diigo extension on google chrome. Whenever you are browsing online and you find work that you think will help with an assignment or personal research, you can easily save or share it with a group.

On July 4, 2006, Diigo was Launched. The same year, the site was listed as one of the top ten research tools by CNET.

In March 2009, Diigo acquired web-clipping service Furl from Looksmart.

On October 25, 2012, the diigo.com domain was hijacked, and the authoritative nameserver records (NS records) was changed for DNS zone DIIGO.COM.
