Hyves was a social networking, social media, and social gaming site in the Netherlands founded by Raymond Spanjar and Floris Rost van Tonningen in 2004.

Hyves was all about valuable contacts and friendships, and it allowed users to chat with each other about what’s going on, play games together, and listen to music.
HISTORY:
In September 2004, Hyves was founded by Raymond Spanjar and Floris Rost van Tonningen.
In May 2010, Hyves had more than 10.3 million accounts.
In May 2006, it was noted that Dutch police were using Hyves as a tool to investigate possible suspects.
In July 2009, Hyves changed its design.
In 2010, Hyves fast growth began slowing down due to the growth of Twitter and Facebook.
In April 2010, Hyves reached 10 million users.
In 2011, after Facebook received more unique visitors than Hyves, the site redirected its focus from a pure social network platform to a content platform by adding a news section, sports results, and radio channels.
In 2013, the Telegraaf Media Group announced they would reform Hyves from a social network platform to an exclusive gaming platform.
On December 1, 2013, all accounts that were not downloaded were removed.
