IBM Cloud Video (formerly Ustream) is a live video streaming company that is a subsidiary of IBM.



Ustream, an IBM Company, gives users access to video players & editors. Ustream is a live, interactive video broadcast platform that allowed soldiers to communicate with friends and family simultaneously from any part of the world.



Ustream powers live interactive video that enables users to watch and interact with an audience from any part of the world without limitations. The site provides a common platform where people broadcast themselves and communicate instantaneously



IBM Cloud Video has provided users with analytics, which help know who’s watching and what they see in virtually real-time. The analytics also allows you to see how, when, and what visitors are watching, enabling you to optimize results. You can determine which videos lead to the most conversions, helping you prioritize content more efficiently.



In 2006, Ustream was founded by John Ham, Brad Hunstable, and Dr. Gyula Feher.

In 2010, Ustream received $20 million in investment from Softbank.

On January 21, 2016, IBM acquired Ustream for up to US$150 million.

In June of 2007, it won “Top 100” services of Web 2.0. That same month it won the “Viewer’s Choice” Award in the Internet TV category.

In 2007, Ustream also won “Best of Show” at the Under The Radar Entertainment and Media Conference.

In August 2007, PC Magazine honored the service as an “Editor’s Choice.”

In 2008, Ustream became a finalist for the SXSW Web Awards in the TV/Film category.

In April 2008,  Ustream  was honored, “Top 100” services of Web 2.0 for the second time.

In 2009, the Shiba Inu Live Puppy cam, which was broadcast over Ustream, won the People’s Voice Award in the Viral category for the 13th Annual Webby Awards.

In 2009, Ustream won in CNET’s 2009 Webware “Top 100” award in the Photo and Video category.

In 2011, Ustream was honored in the Mobile Video Platform category by the Streaming Media’s Readers’ Choice Awards. The same year the company was also honored by Achievers.

On June 29, 2011, Ustream was selected by the Guinness World Records for most content ingested by an online video service with an average of 70.49 hours per minute.

In 2012, “Ustream Broadcast for Friends” feature was selected as the Best Streaming Innovation by the Streaming Media’s Readers’ Choice Awards.
